Seagull’s LegaSuite Now Compatible with CentraSite SOA Repository

iSeries modernization experts Seagull Software is partnering with IT giant Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation to enable Seagull’s LegaSuite customers to park their Web services and service oriented architecture (SOA) applications in CentraSite, a vendor-neutral SOA registry and repository co-developed by Fujitsu and Software AG, the companies announced last week. CentraSite was launched by Fujitsu and Software AG about a year-and-a-half ago as an open foundation for managing and governing SOA projects. CentraSite provides a central repository for SOA “artifacts” created by the various people involved, including “roles” like architects, process modelers, and developers. These role player can use CentraSite to store, describe, search for, and reuse the artifacts they created, as well as artifacts created by others. Seagull joined the CentraSite community in September, and last week, it announced that its flagship LegaSuite offering integrates with CentraSite, enabling LegaSuite customers to use the project to store their SOA assets and track their progress. Don Addington, president of Atlanta, Georgia-based Seagull, says the collaboration with CentraSite integrates two critical pieces of the SOA puzzle. “LegaSuite enables companies to use their legacy applications as services in a next-generation infrastructure [while] CentraSite enables these services to be effectively managed and made available for reuse,” he says. “The clear benefit for customers is that as they build out their SOA infrastructure, they can minimize the risk in migrating to a SOA environment by maximizing the reuse of their proven, legacy applications.” Migrating from legacy systems to modern SOA-based systems is also helped with the integration of LegaSuite into CentraSite, says Robert Sepanloo, senior vice president of the enterprise software and solutions group at Sunnyvale, California-based Fujitsu Computer Systems. “Our partnership illustrates the benefits of the CentraSite strategy and the CentraSite Community model. By encouraging vendor collaboration, we are creating solutions that remove complexity and the risks involved in migrating from legacy applications to modern, SOA environments,” he says. Seagull is also planning a CentraSite Jump Start Program to help LegaSuite customers deploy CentraSite. The company encourages interested parties to check out its Web site at www.seagullsw.com for more information.
