Accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) data stored in New Generation Software‘s Concert Series financial software can now be accessed via Excel using its ConcertPro data access utility, the software company announced last week. Previously, only general ledger (GL) data was accessible with ConcertPro. While NGS is best known for its line of i5/OS-based business intelligence software, the Sacramento, California, company also develops and sells an integrated financial package that runs on the IBM System i. Called the Concert Series Financial Management System, the suite includes applications for managing AP, AR, GL, payroll, and human resources activities at mid size organizations. ConcertPro is an optional component of the Concert Series that allows users to view i5/OS-based data from within the comforts of Microsoft Excel. With the expanded coverage to AP and AR data, several benefits are now available to Concert Series users. For starters, with the capability to download open and historical transactions by data range, account types, or account numbers, users will be able to identify incorrectly allocated transactions, or track account activity, or locate invoices or checks affecting a specific GL account. Users will also be able to review invoices for spending patterns, plan payments by currency type, estimate incoming cash versus timing of liability payments, analyze sales activity, and create customized statements for a third-party payer, the company says. The software displays either summary or detail views of invoice information. “Concert Pro has proved to be a valuable, convenient reporting tool for our general ledger customers,” says Bernard Gough, CEO and president of NGS. “We’re confident our Concert Series AP and AR customers will benefit as well in having the familiar Windows work environment and a streamlined approach to simplify data access and analysis.”
