Add another name to the list of software companies with first-day support for the new i5/OS V6R1 operating system that shipped a week-and-a-half ago. nuBridges, the Atlanta, Georgia, developer of B2B and data transfer software, has certified that its i5/OS offerings support the new operating system. nuBridges says support for the new operating will help to narrow the security exposure of customers adopting V6R1. nuBridges sells several software utilities designed to help organizations move data among hosts in a secure manner. On the i5/OS front, the company sells products such as Data Secure AS400, AS400 FTP, AS400 Sockets, and AS400 AS1, AS2, and AS3, among others. Supporting i5/OS V6R1 with these products will help customers, says Gary Palgon, vice president of product management for nuBridges. “Businesses transitioning to an updated operating system release can experience security breaches or application failures if their security solutions don’t work immediately, exposing them to risk and damages,” he says. “We have pre-certified our software products on the i5/OS V6R1 platform so that customers transitioning to the new operating system have secure connections and uninterrupted data protection starting day one.” Supporting V6R1 is a bit more complicated for software developers than previous releases due to the program conversion requirements IBM imposed with the new operating system. As a result, many application vendors are still testing their software against the new operating system.
