VAI last week announced another longtime customer, carpet manufacturer Syntec Industries, has gone live with S2K 5.0, the newest release of the vendor’s RPG-based ERP application. Syntec expects the software to help improve its year-end processing, while managing its seven warehouses. Based in Rome, Georgia, Syntec Industries makes carpets that serve a variety of needs, including marine, recreational vehicle (RV), and general housing. In addition to carpeting, Syntec sells trims, vinyl, leathers, suede, fabrics, logo mats, and adhesives. Syntec first installed S2K more than 10 years ago, and the i5/OS-based software has served the company well, says Joann Marvin, a programmer/analyst with the company. The company began to install S2K 5.0, which VAI made generally available a year ago, in the spring of this year, and finally went live last month. “S2K 5.0 came along at a time when Syntec was ready to upgrade our package,” Marvin says. “VAI’s service team and understanding of the manufacturing industry made the implementation a seamless process. We look forward to many years of continued partnership with VAI.” In addition to year-end processing, Syntec sees S2K 5.0 helping to keep its managers current with the latest performance metrics. VAI delivered a new Web-based dashboard in S2K 5.0 that provides quick access to information such as sales levels, profit, and inventory. The vendor also offers an Apple iPhone interface.
