The developers at systems management tool provider ManageEngine have been hard at work cranking out the features lately. The company, which supports the IBM i platform with several utilities, unveiled two new products and updates to three others. Last week, ManageEngine unveiled SQLDBManager Plus, a new monitoring tool for SQL Server databases. The software is designed to help administrators track usage patterns, perform troubleshooting, resolve performance bottlenecks, and assist in capacity planning. Pricing starts at $795. The other new offering, unveiled in late June, is Exchange Reporter Plus, which is a collection of utilities for Microsoft Exchange Server environments. The product contains more than 80 pre-packaged reports that help administrators keep their e-mail environments running smoothly. For example, the reports will help administrators pinpoint servers that may become overloaded, help them find inactive or orphaned mailboxes, and help them identify content that’s prohibited by their companies. Pricing starts at $445. A new release of OpManager, the vendor’s flagship network and systems management software, was unveiled two weeks ago. The new release is loaded with VMware features, and gives administrators tools for mapping, monitoring, and reporting on their ESX4.0, ESX4i , ESX 3.5, and ESX 3.5i environments. Other areas of improvement in OpManager include new automated network mapping; SSL support for external mail servers; a range of new Windows “widgets” for measuring availability and utilization of things like Windows services and Active Directory; and 10 new device templates. Pricing starts at $595 for 25 devices. The vendor also unveiled a new release of ADSelfService Plus, its self-service password reset portal for Active Directory environments. Enhancements to the Web-based offering include the capability to prevent users from using the same password, as well as better automated deployments. The software costs $595 for 500 users. Finally, the vendor announced NetFlow Analyzer 8, an update on its traffic analysis and network forensics tool. With version 8, ManageEngine has added the capability to monitor voice over IP (VoIP) traffic using IPSLA. Administrators are able to monitor VoIP performance metrics with NetFlow Analyzer 8, including jitter, latency and packet loss. Support for simple network mail protocol (SNMP) version 3 and geo-locating IP addresses are other new features in this product, which starts at $795. ManageEngine provides IBM i monitoring via two products: Applications Manager and OpManager On-Demand, a cloud-based systems monitoring product. For more information, see www.manageengine.com.
