Mochasoft, the popular Danish developer of affordable terminal emulators for the System i and other platforms, recently launched two new releases of its Mocha TN5250 emulator, including one that runs on the Microsoft‘s Windows 7 operating system, and another for Apple‘s Mac OS/X. The newly released Mocha TN5250 for Windows 7 emulator supports all standard 5250 functions on Windows 7, Windows Vista, and even Windows XP hosts. The software supports user-defined keys and other customizations, macros, and device names. Users also have the option of using 128-bit SSL encryption. Individual licenses for Mocha TN5250 for Windows 7 cost $30, while a site license, which lets the user install the software on an unlimited number of computers, costs a mere $300. The Mochasoft website is also showcasing a new release of its TN5250 emulator for Mac OS X, which the developer characterizes as a “small and fast” program for accessing System i hosts. The emulator supports Mac OS X versions 10.4 through 10.6, and costs $25 per computer, or $250 for a site license. Mochasoft offers a range of low-cost 5250 emulators for a range of devices, including PCs running Windows, Mac, Linux, and MS-DOS operating systems; iPhone, Android, Blackberry, and Palm smart phones; as well as 5250 emulators deployed through Java and ActiveX objects.
