GoFaster Touts Growth in China

American Top Tools, the Spanish developer of the GoFaster performance tool for maximizing the performance of IBM i interactive capacity, says it is experiencing strong demand for GoFaster in China, where companies are adopting second-hand AS/400 servers, as well as installing new servers. In a recent e-mail blast, ATT boasted of its business dealings in China, which it described as a “devouring sponge” that’s making up for a languishing market in the U.S. and Europe. Competition in China to keep costs low helps to explain the boost in sales of the GoFaster performance tool in that country, ATT says. The market is so hot in China that ATT’s distributor there prepaid 40 percent of the project sales in advance on a deal where the distributor committed to selling 1,000 GoFaster licenses over the year, according to ATT. “So high is their confidence in success,” it says. ATT says it rolled out a new pricing plan for 2011 that includes a 30 percent discount off new GoFaster licenses for machines running OS/400 V4R5 or lower, a 25 percent discount for i5/OS V5R1 and V5R2, and a 20 percent discount for V5R3. Licenses for the software, which also works with IBM i 6.1 and 7.1, are available in three-month chunks, with the largest term being three years.
