RJS Software Systems has delivered email and printing enhancements with the latest release of the IBM i version its document management system, WebDocs-iSeries Edition version 3.19. RJS dubs WebDocs an “electronic filing cabinet” that can capture, store, manage, and route all kinds of electronic documents, including IBM i spool files, invoices, work orders, faxes, reports, scanned documents, and even non-structured data like video and audio files. The software features a Web-based interface, and a server component that runs on either Windows or IBM i operating systems. With WebDocs version 3.19, the Burnsville, Minnesota-based company has improved its outbound email and routing functions. For the first time, the software gains encryption capabilities. Users can now compress and password protect an email, boosting the security of the contents. This release also brings the capability to send emails to multiple addresses, and to send emails that include multiple attachments. It’s easy to see how this will improve the efficiency of workers tasked with handling the billing, orders, and receipts of their customers. New background printing capabilities have also been added to the product. This allows users to continue working in WebDocs or on other tasks while long print jobs take place, the vendor says. Better memory handling of large TIFF and PDF documents will improve users’ ability to view and save large, memory-intensive documents in these formats.
