New Templates Added to mrc Dev Tool

Development tool maker mrc last week announced the addition of two new templates–the cross-tab report template and the data upload template–to its flagship product, m-Power. m-Power is a Web application development tool that uses a template-based approach to enable rapid delivery of new programs and functionality. After configuring new programs from pre-defined templates, m-Power generates Java code that runs on IBM i and all Java-enabled platforms. The new cross-tab report template makes it easy for developers to create a special type of report that combines row data with user-selected column data. The vendor says these types of reports are great for summarizing and comparing data, for sales analysis, and accounting reports. The new data upload template is designed to make it easy for users to upload their spreadsheets to a central database, where the data can then be accessed, stored, and maintained over the Web. The vendor says that the new data upload template is a good way to let users maintain their own ad-hoc reporting data tables. Both templates bring useful functions to m-Power, says Brian Crowley, mrc’s director of development. “Now m-Power users can easily create the ever-popular cross-tab report, or give end users a way to upload spreadsheet data to the database without bothering the IT department,” Crowley says in a press release.
