Linoma’s GoAnywhere Goes Global

Location, location, location. We’ve all heard the line that location, which could also be interpreted as being in the right spot at the right time, is the key to success for many business. In the 21st century, businesses don’t have to let their physical location limit their success, but you still need partners, you still need feet on the street sometimes–particularly when there are language barriers. Take Nebraska-based Linoma Software, for instance. Linoma’s headquarters is located in Ashland, a city with a population of less than 5,000, but with the IBM i platform being popular in Japan and other Asian countries, the company wants to peddle its product way over on the other side of the globe. Linoma just announced a new partnership with SOLPAC, a software and consulting firm based in Tokyo, Japan. SOLPAC’s staff of 260 employees and consultants will lead the charge to bring Linoma’s GoAnywhere products to markets in Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Linoma, which specializes in managed file transfer (MFT) software, was already aware of Japan’s strong IBM Power Systems market and jumped at the opportunity to meet with SOLPAC’s managing operating officer, Hiroshi Watanabe. “The timing for us was perfect,” said Brian Pick, who is director of sales at Linoma and also is responsible for managing relationships with business partners. “Hiroshi happened to be in the U.S. on other business, and we invited him to visit our office and meet our team.” In anticipation of SOLPAC’s promotion of GoAnywhere, the Linoma software development team worked with SOLPAC’s team to translate GoAnywhere Director and relevant documentation into Japanese. “According to Hiroshi, the Asian market is desperate for a managed file transfer product like GoAnywhere,” Pick said. The Japan partnership isn’t Linoma’s first foray into the international marketplace. Far from it, in fact. Linoma is already quite experienced internationally, boasting distributors around the globe, with partnerships in Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Italy, Lebanon, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. “GoAnywhere is the type of product that customers consider as mission critical to the automation and security of their file transfers,” Pick said, “and it’s best if they can reach out to someone in their geographic area who speaks their language and understands their business environment who can provide assistance.” And they’re not done yet. Pick says Linoma continues to look for opportunities to expand its global reach. It seems like GoAnywhere is more than just the name of the of its flagship product line, it’s the company mantra.
