ARCTOOLS Gains JD Edwards Validations

JD Edwards shops upgrading to World A9.3 or EnterpriseOne versions 9.0 and 9.1 can feel good about purging unwanted data from their systems using DCSoftware‘s ARCTOOLS utility now that Oracle has validated the product on those particular ERP systems. ARCTOOLS helps automate the process of identifying old data in production databases, and moving it into a long term archive. The software works with DB2 for i, SQL Server, and Oracle databases, and allows users to schedule when purge jobs should run, and allows users to “throttle” them back to avoid impacting production systems. DCSoftware counts more than 300 JD Edwards World and EnterpriseOne shops as customers, and also targets BPCS, which Infor officially calls Infor10 ERP iEnterprise. Last week, DCSoftware received the official nod of approval from Oracle for running ARCTOOLS version 7 against World A9.3, the most current release of the ERP system, which runs only on IBM i version 7.1. Last fall, DCSoftware gained certification for Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.0 and 9.1; version 9.1 is the most current release of EnterpriseOne. Applications like ARCTOOLS that have gained the “validated integration” stamp of approval from Oracle have gone through a “rigorous technical review and test process,” says Kevin O’Brien, senior director of ISV and SaaS strategy for Oracle. The validation “gives our customers confidence that the integration between ARCTOOLS v7 and Oracle’s JD Edwards World A9.3 has been validated and that the products work together as designed. This helps reduce risk and improves the implementation cycles for our joint customers,” he says in a press release. Oracle recommends that JD Edwards customers purge their data before embarking on upgrades. Since this is upgrade season for both JD Edwards World and EnterpriseOne shops, and older releases of those ERP systems will cease to be supported later this year, it would seem that the timing for DCSoftware is good.
