Rocket Nabs Trubiquity for MFT
April 1, 2014 Alex Woodie
Rocket Software added another horse to its software stable last month when it announced the acquisition of Trubiquity, a Michigan-based provider of managed data file transfer (MFT), EDI, and data integration software. Founded nearly 20 years ago, Trubiquity built a successful business catering to the data integration, process automation, and project collaboration needs of 6,500-plus customers in the aerospace, manufacturing, retail, finance, healthcare, and consumer goods industries. The company says its tools process about a million transactions per month for its customers in 40 countries around the world. The acquisition of Trubiquity brings Rocket several new products, including its flagship TRUfusion Enterprise and various point solutions, such as TRUcentrix, TRUexchange, TRUsource, and TRUeurex-c. The solutions are designed to help organizations manage the flow of product data among suppliers and customers in complex, regulated supply chains, often by integrating with ERP, PLM, and CAD systems running on premise and in the cloud. Although IBM i support doesn’t appear to be a strong driver at Trubiquity, the vendor has supported the platform with some of its products, including the TRUeurex-c MFT product, and most likely others. In 2013, Trubiquity established a partnership with IBM i ERP giant Infor to hook its cloud-based EDI solution into Infor’s ION middleware. Rocket already has a partnership with Infor; the ERP giant resells its CorVu 5 BI solutions with Distribution A+, which runs on IBM i, as well as its commerce @ work product. “Over the last 19 years, Trubiquity has built a reputation for delivering solutions that ensure that the right data is delivered in the right format at the right time, both within a company and between companies,” Rocket Software president and CEO Andy Youniss says in a press release. “These solutions fit well with our data access and integration offerings. . .” Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Rocket says it will retain all Trubiquity employees, and that they will continue working out of their offices in Troy, Michigan; Carlsbad, California; Leeds, UK; and three locations in Germany. Trubiquity joins many other Rocket acquisitions, including Seagull Software (acquired in December 2006), NetManage (December 2007), Arkivio (January 2008), IBMi’s U2 database business (September 2009), Aldon (March 2011), and IBM’s iCluster HA business (December 2011).
