Bring Your IT Ideas to Life, mrc Says
February 3, 2009 Alex Woodie
For years, American consumers were asked to explore the magical world of electricity with General Electric’s “We bring good things to life” campaign. Now, mrc is taking a page out of GE’s playbook and encouraging System i developers to dream up the next killer app with its new “Bring your ideas to life” offer. Best of all, it comes with free services from mrc. Talk about putting your money where your mouth is. As part of the “Bring your ideas to life” campaign, mrc is committing to work with any customer to build a Web application with m-Power, the company’s flagship cross-platform Web application development tool. Of course, there will be limitations on the amount of free services mrc will provide. You’re not going to Web-enable your entire ERP system, free of charge. But the gist of the offer is to get employees to think outside of the box a little bit, and not be afraid to speak up with ways–however small–to improve their company’s use of the Web. “We’ve all wished for functionality that our company didn’t have or Web tools that could help the company,” says Sal Stangarone, mrc’s senior product consultant. “We also know that for one reason or another, most of these ideas and wishes won’t go anywhere. We started the ‘Bring your ideas to life’ offer to help employees get their ideas recognized.” There are several examples of the types of Web application projects that will get you mrc assistance. Perhaps a salesperson wants to view customer order history from a smartphone. Or maybe an insurance underwriter wants new customers to use the Web to fill out applications. You could have an accountant who wants to distribute reports automatically using the Web, instead of using Excel. These are all projects that mrc has experienced.
