IBM i development tool maker CNX has used the Ext JS JavaScript library from Sencha to develop Web and mobile interfaces with its Valence toolset for six years. Last week, CNX announced that it has been formally recognized by Sencha for its expertise in using these mobile tools in services engagements. Sencha was created in 2010 when the popular JavaScript library projects Ext JS, jQTouch and Raphaël combined. Today, the privately held Northern California company is perhaps best known for Sencha Touch, a mobile application framework that speeds the creation of touch-enabled HTML5 applications for tablets and smartphones. The Ext JS framework has been a part of Valence since the application development tool first started rolling off CNX’s assembly line in 2008, back when the company was called EXT. Today, Valence also includes Sencha Touch to assist organizations in developing native, RPG-powered apps that are served from IBM i. Now, as a Sencha Select Partner, Sencha has recognized CNX as a specialist in applying these technologies in services engagements. “This formal partnership status with Sencha confirms our dedication to writing logically structured, easily modified, and extendable Ext JS and Sencha Touch code for our clients using best practices,” CNX CTO Richard Milone states in a press release. “It’s an important distinction of quality for the code our developers create and what our customers can expect to receive from CNX.” On February 4, CNX also announced the latest update to Valence version 3.2, which the company released last fall. The update includes “cosmetic and functional improvements” to the Valence Portal administration app; new procedures for accommodating time and timestamp fields in VVIN; a new standalone “active sessions” app; and new methods for obtaining user names in portal.
