EXTOL International issued updates to its adapters for Oracle E-Business Suite and SAP‘s ERP suite. The Pennsylvania company also updated its AS2 software, and hired a new sales manager. EXTOL is a company that has its roots in EDI and the AS/400, but which has broadened its reach in recent years to support other platforms and business integration methods. Its flagship product today is the Java-based EXTOL Business Integrator (EBI), a multi-purpose suite of integration broker tools that supports IBM i and other major platforms. The company recently updated two of its ERP-specific EBI adapters. The new adapter for Oracle E-Business Suite should speed implementation times and make life easier for IT professionals. “With this latest Enterprise Adapter release, Oracle users no longer need to implement the most common EDI transactions from scratch,” EXTOL product manager Mark Denchy says in a press release. The new adapter for SAP ERP provides certification with the release of SAP’s NetWeaver integration methodology and software. EXTOL vice president of product management Jim O’Leary says the adapter boosts integration with SAP “by providing IDoc metadata importing and pre-built, customizable integrations for EDI transactions.” EXTOL also offers EBI adapters for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and TMW Systems trucking software. The vendor also issued a new release of EXTOL Secure Exchange (ESX), its AS2 communication software for IBM i, Windows, and Linux servers. ESX version 5.5 delivers better security by authenticating both the sender and receiver before sending data, and delivers better availability by automatically forwarding AS2 workloads to a standby server when the primary server goes down. ESX 5.5 was also certified in the latest Drummond Group AS2 test. Michael DeCosta is leading EXTOL’s sales efforts since he was promoted to vice president of sales in February. DeCosta joined EXTOL in 1996, and has held several positions at the company, including national sales director and manager of customer sales.
