EXTOL International, the provider of EDI and B2B data integration tools for IBM i and other platforms, is now in the managed file transfer (MFT) software business as the result of a new partnership with Italian software maker Primeur. As part of the partnership, which was unveiled last week, Pennsylvania-based EXTOL will add two Primeur products, Spazio MFT/S and File Governance, to the portfolio of its flagship product, Integrator. Primeur has also added Integrator to its list of offerings. According to Primeur, Spazio MFT/S is aimed at helping companies to centrally manage multiple third-party file transfer products, utilizing a range of file transfer protocols and running on multiple platforms. Spazio MFT/S also manages file transfer scripts developed in house, open-source FTP products, or proprietary MFT tools that utilize SFTP or FTPS protocols. In addition, Primeur has created a series of add-ons, including Enterprise File Services, Data Secure for MFT/S (DSSP), an email extension, FASTransfer, a DMZ gateway and adapter for SAP NetWeaver, and file governance programs. While Spazio MFT/S is designed to run on Windows and Linux, it can interact with IBM i data via plug-ins, an EXTOL spokesman confirms. EXTOL has a number of customers running its legacy EDI software on IBM i, in addition to IBM i customers of the Java-based Integrator product. Spazio is complementary to Integrator, EXTOL CEO Tony Baran says. “Partnering with proven global file management leader, Primeur, enables EXTOL to meet growing customer demand for increased data security, and further operate our signature EXTOL Integrator portfolio as the most complete enterprise data communication and transformation hub,” Baran says in a press release. Primeur executive vice president Stefano Musso says EXTOL customers will benefit from Spazio MFT/S by gaining a single point of management and control for all data and files transferred internally and externally. “It will also provide them with the flexibility to easily manage file transfer products and protocols from multiple vendors with a certainty that all file transfers meet robust security policies,” he states in a press release.
