InfoPrint Spreads the Eco-Love with New Laser Printers

You don’t need a postcard to know that printers aren’t high on the list of environmentalists’ favorite products. But with Earth Day coming up next Wednesday, even paper-loving printer makers like InfoPrint Solutions Company are positioning their products as more eco-friendly. Last week, the Ricoh–IBM amalgam announced two new entry-level printers that even a tree-hugger could embrace. InfoPrint Solutions Company claims the environment was “top of mind” when it developed the InfoPrint 1930 MFP and InfoPrint 1940 MFP, two entry-level multifunction printers designed for smallish groups of five to 10 users and that cost $966 and $1,159 respectively.
To that end, the manufacturer included an “EcoMode” that reduces energy consumption. It included duplex printing as a standard option, which cuts down on paper use by printing on both sides of the paper. The use of high yield cartridges will hopefully reduce the number of cartridges ending up in the landfill, while the “toner saver mode” saves ink. Like Airwolf, the printers feature a “quiet mode,” which cuts down on noise pollution, and less packaging also helps to decrease waste and cost. Both MFPs can print, copy, fax, and scan. The devices print at speeds up to 40 pages per minute (ppm) and include an “instant warm-up” fuser that delivers the first page out in as few as seven seconds. Users interact with the printer via a touch-screen “e-Task” interface. An array of optional paper drawers and add-ons are also available. “These new MFP models will serve as an important component in business device optimization solutions, allowing our customers to save money and improve productivity,” says Paul Preo, vice president of distributed printing solutions for InfoPrint Solutions Company. “And our ongoing drive to reduce our impact on the environment can also reduce the impact on customers’ bottom line by reducing paper and energy costs.” For more information and spec sheets, visit the company’s Web site and www.infoprintsolutionscompany.com.
