SEQUEL Software Joins IBM i Solution Edition Program

IBM i business intelligence software developer SEQUEL Software has joined IBM‘s successful Solution Edition program, the company announced last week. The move is expected to help the Help/Systems subsidiary sell more software, while helping IBM to move Power Systems hardware. The IBM i Solution Edition program was launched last summer to make it easier and less expensive for customers to acquire and deploy the combination of IBM i software and Power Systems iron. IBM says the program saves customers up to 35 percent off the cost of buying the hardware and software separately. With a starting price of $6,500, it’s no wonder the Solution Edition offering based on a Power Systems Model 720 is gaining lots of steam in the market. Now, Help/Systems can take advantage of the momentum IBM and its partners have built with a Solution Edition for SEQUEL, its multi-purpose IBM i utility that excels at executing queries and generating reports from DB2/400 as well as other relational databases, like SQL Server and MySQL. The software uses a special version of the SQL syntax that its owners say is more familiar to users and easier to use than the standard SQL syntax. “We believe that the IBM Power Systems team has recognized the value that SEQUEL adds to the midrange marketplace, offering great technology and ease-of-use for IBM i customers today,” states Help/Systems channel partner manager Doug Fulmer in a press release. “We look forward to working with IBM and its Power Systems customers, helping them to unlock the secrets hidden in the massive amounts of data stored in their IBM i systems to make their strategic planning easier.” For more information on SEQUEL, see www.sequel-software.com.
