i-Centric Teaching Paid by SoCal Vendors

Three IBM i software vendors are combining efforts to sponsor a free one-day education opportunity in Southern California. The event is being called iNSPIRE 2012 and it’s scheduled for Friday, June 22, at the IBM Center in Costa Mesa. The session lineup–which is focused on technologies such as application modernization, document management, and high availability–is anchored by two of the top educators in the IBM midrange: Susan Gantner and Jon Paris of Partner400. Also on the agenda are IBM’s Isabelle Sato, Profound Logic‘s Alex Roytman, inFORM Decisions‘ Alex Rodriguez, and Vision Solutions‘ Steve Romweber. Profound, inFORM, and Vision have underwritten the cost of the event, making it free for attendees. An online session guide is available here. The underlying theme of iNSPIRE 2012 is learning about solutions and strategies that build on the well-established success of the IBM i platform and demonstrates its place in modern IT departments. In addition to emphasizing how essential business objectives can be best met on IBM i, the benefits of using open source software and native IBM i tools to extend the value of IBM i investments (in some cases, using tools that users may not even know are available) will be specifically targeted. An update on the IBM i roadmap and product investments will be included in the program as well. “This is not a trade show,” Amanda Blackburn, Profound Logic’s media relations person, told me last week on the phone. “This is about meeting the experts, presenting good material, encouraging people to be more active, and adding to the IBM i community. It’s also about dealing with the challenges companies have with finding things like the right tools to solve business problems and about learning the latest ways to code. It’s also about thought leadership and the IBM i ecosystem as a whole.” There is limited seating for the event capacity is approximately 50 so registration by June 15 is advised. You may have heard there is no such thing as a free lunch, but this day of education is an exception to that rule. RELATED STORIES Who’s the Fool When it Comes to Training?
