Manufacturer Picks IntelliChief for Paperless Project

A.T. Cross, a manufacturer of engraved pens and other gifts, says its recent decision to implement IntelliChief‘s electronic document management and workflow software will enable it to get the upper hand on previously paper-based processes. A.T. Cross is a 165-year-old company that’s established itself as a designer and marketer of branded personal and business accessories, such as pens and watches, which it sells around the world via retail and corporate channels. The company, which had revenues of $165 million last year, uses the IBM i-based MAC-PAC ERP system from TDCI to help automate critical processes. Not every process is as efficient as it could be, however. Before implementing IntelliChief, it could take up to a week before data on a paper-based document–including emails that are printed out and then scanned–could make it into the system. This lack of access and visibility of documents hurts the company’s flexibility, and the overall process takes up valuable resources. The implementation of the Windows-based IntelliChief content management and workflow system is designed to change all that. The IntelliChief software will serve as the repository for critical forms, such as purchase orders, authorization forms, and order acknowledgements. Thanks to integration between IntelliChief and MAC-PAC, employees will be able to access forms directly from their ERP screens. A.T. Cross employees will also use the workflow capabilities of IntelliChief to review, approve, and match transactional documents, the company says. “We did our due diligence with this project, and came to the conclusion that IntelliChief has the functionality to support our existing needs, as well as those that might arise in the future,” A.T. Cross manager of operations and ERP systems Richard Coute says in a press release. “We have already identified several more areas where we believe IntelliChief can help us streamline processes and increase visibility.”
