Varsity Signs New Resellers in New York, the Midwest

Varsity Logistics, a developer of shipping automation software for IBM i servers, has signed up two new resellers, including Computer Alliance and Maximum Computer Systems (MCS). MCS is an IBM business partner located on Long Island, New York. The company focuses on the distribution industry, and is a reseller of Infor‘s ERP A+ (formerly from Daly.Commerce) software. MCS, you might recall, acquired Al Barsa’s reseller business after he passed away. Varsity’s director of business development, Vincent Taravella, says the partnership will be good for both companies. “It enables us to go to market in the Northeast region of the United States, with a proven partner,” he says in a press release. “As their customers look to deploy cost-saving technology, it creates new opportunities for both our organizations.” Livonia, Michigan-based Computer Alliance is also an IBM business partner, and caters to manufacturers, distributors, and other companies located in Michigan and the surrounding area. The partnership with San Francisco-based Varsity Logistics will give Computer Alliance another product to sell to distributors in its coverage area. Varsity’s line of IBM i-based shipping automation software is designed to simplify the task of picking a shipper, preparing the required documents, and completing shipping-related transactions. The primary products, including ShipSoft Parcel and ShipSoft Freight, are designed to hook into IBM i-based ERP systems on the back end, and are certified to work with hundreds of parcel and freight carriers, including UPS, FedEx, USPS, and more than 350 LTL (less-than-truckload) carriers.
