Banking application provider Fiserv recently shipped a new release of Signature, a core banking system that runs on the IBM i server. With Signature version 11.1, Fiserv introduced several new features, including expanded commercial lending, a new pricing module, better visibility into customer accounts, and a new Web UI, among other enhancements. Signature is one of two IBM i-based core banking systems from Fiserv. The other offering, called Premiere, was originally developed by ITI and is often positioned as Fiserv’s flagship core processing software. Signature (formerlynamed CBS, for Comprehensive Banking System) was previously developed by its CBS subsidiary, and sold internationally under the ICBS banner. It’s recently been modified to support Web services and service oriented architecture (SOA) extensions, and is primarily aimed at mid-sized U.S. financial institutions. Signature version 11.1 brings the new Relationship Pricing and Analysis module. This piece of software is designed to help banks set pricing levels and create loyalty and behavior-based incentives, such as reduced or waived fees or better interest rates. The software also allows the bank to analyze how commercial and retail customers are using their products. The new release brings enhancements to the Commercial Lending module that should help with revenue generation by allowing banking customers to offer new fee options when they’re working with their clients at the commitment and origination levels. This module also introduces new reporting capabilities that give banks detailed views of unused commitments by loan, credit line, customer, and group, Fiserv says. Better visibility into customer behavior is the thrust behind the new Single Customer View option in Signature 11.1. Fiserv says the new software gives bank employees a consolidated view of all of a customer’s accounts at the institution, with summary-level data, with the idea of delivering better customer service. Signature 11.1 also introduces a new Web-based user interface (UI). Fiserv says the new interface will provide benefits in the areas of training, usability, security, and product stability.
