JD Edwards Gets 57 New Mobile Apps

You’ve heard of ’57 Chevys and Heinz 57. Now Oracle is taking a whack at the number by delivering 57 new mobile apps for the JD Edwards ERP system. As you might expect, the new mobile apps that Oracle unveiled in late July work only with the EnterpriseOne ERP system. While the company two years ago said they were evaluating the creation of mobile apps for World, which runs only on the IBM i OS, it has yet to deliver any. EnterpriseOne, of course, runs on IBM i, Linux, and Unix OSes. New app areas include: Asset Lifecycle Management, Service Management, Case Management, Health and Safety Incident Management, Financial Management, Contact Lookups, Project Management, Order Management, Supply Chain Management, and Supply Chain Execution. These go along with previously disclosed app areas, such as Expense Management, Requisition Self Service Approval, Purchase Order Approval, and Sales Inquiry.
The new apps run natively on Android and iOS, and feature tight integration with the cameras and other services available on the devices. The apps are based on the Oracle Mobile Application Framework, which it says accelerates and simplifies mobile development and ensures end-to-end encryption and security. Unlike earlier mobile apps for EnterpriseOne, which cost upwards of $600, the new apps are free. They’re available for download from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Organizations increasingly are turning to mobile apps to accelerate business execution and realize new operational efficiencies, says Lyle Ekdahl, senior vice president general manager for Oracle’s JD Edwards group. The new mobile apps “give users anytime, anywhere access to the key business applications they need to do their jobs,” he says. “These easy-to-use applications help make organizations more nimble by increasing workforce efficiency and allowing employees to move more quickly.” RELATED STORIES Oracle Ships Smartphone Expense Management App for JDE E1 Oracle Ships Smartphone Apps for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne
