ICS Updates FormSprint

Integrated Custom Software recently updated its FormSprint suite of document management software with several new capabilities, including improvements to its PDF archive system, support for the U.S. Postal Service’s new bar codes, and new spool file extraction capabilities. ICS is based in Connecticut and has sold FormSprint to more than 1,000 customers, who have used the product with every OS/400 and i5/OS-based ERP system imaginable. The company’s offerings handle a range of document-related needs, from merging form-overlays with spool file data to generating MICR and barcode printing to electronic distribution of documents (via hooks into Computer Keyes e-mail and fax products, which it also resells). In July, ICS delivered several updates. The biggest changes were made to the FormSprint PDF archive system. With this release, PDF files can be created dynamically from the archive and loaded directly into the IFS system. Setup of search and printing parameters has also been streamlined, the company says. Another enhancement in FormSprint brings support for the generation of 4-State Barcodes, a new barcode that the U.S. Postal Service is rolling into production to replace the old POSTNET barcode that’s been in use for decades. With the capability to encode 31 digits of information, the 4-State (so-called due to the four different states of vertical lines used in the code) will make the USPS more efficient, saving money for everybody. FormSprint now supports this bar code the same as all the other FormSprint bar codes. The last enhancement in FormSprint is related to the product’s spool file extract capability. The extract function has been expanded to include the “user defined area” of the spool file, ICS says. The enhancements, which were part of ICS’ July roundup, are available to all FormSprint customers on current maintenance. For more information, visit www.formsprint.com.
