Storagepipe Shifts Focus to IBM Cloud Backup

Storagepipe Solutions last week announced it has launched a new “brand” that’s dedicated to cloud backup solutions for IBM servers, including IBM i, AIX, z/OS, and Linux machines. The branding change hints at new stuff to come from Storagepipe. Storagepipe has been providing online backup and recovery solutions for IBM i servers for more than 10 years. The Toronto, Ontario, company uses Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) infrastructure to back up IBM servers. It also provides business continuity services, server replication and failover services, and data- and e-mail-archiving solutions for IBM hosts, Windows, Unix, and VMware machines. The new brand doesn’t signify a major change in Storagepipe solutions at this point, and the company’s mix of offerings remains the change. However, the branding initiative does lay the groundwork for additional announcements down the road, according to a Storagepipe spokesperson. Specifically, upgrades to Storagepipe’s IBM backup offerings will boost its performance and capabilities, the spokesperson says. This will be part of a “special focus” on Storagepipe’s part to address the specific needs of IBM server customers. “Storagepipe has an excellent reputation amongst IBM users, and we’re proud to meet the specific requirements of these clients using IBM-based technologies that complement IBM’s fully-integrated systems approach,” says Storagepipe CEO Steven Rodin. It’s not exactly clear what the new “brand” is for Storagepipe, or if there’s a new name or subsidiary or logo in the works. But one of Storagepipe’s websites, iseriesonlinebackup.com, provides a strong hint in the direction the company is going. RELATED STORY Storagepipe Offers Online Backups for i OS, Too
