InfoPrint Goes for Printer Efficiency with ‘Productivity Tracker’

InfoPrint Solutions Company, the joint venture between IBM and Ricoh, last week launched a new release of the Productivity Tracker, a piece of software designed to optimize print operations, maximize printer utilization, and minimize labor costs for commercial printers. Companies with large production printing operations have invested a lot of money into their printers, and cannot afford to let them stand idle for too long. Thanks to Productivity Tracker, they can collect relevant production data from compatible printers (InfoPrint 4000, 4100, and 5000 series) into a DB2 database, and then run queries against the data. The software allows users to answer questions about their production printers, such as: How many linear feet did our printers run last quarter? How many minutes were the printers idle? How many times did the operators load toner for a job? Which operators ran a job, with which snapshot, and on which printers? Productivity Tracker comes with a set of standard reports. With Productivity Tracker version 2.1, users will be able to develop more customized reports, thanks to the capability for pre-defined and user-defined activities to be created at the printer. The new routines can be inserted into the production system database using the touch-screen display on the printer. Another new feature in Productivity Tracker 2.1 is the capability to access reports from the Web. This feature should make it easier for groups of users to analyze production printing data at the same time. Other report export options include PDF, CSV, and printed reports. Productivity Tracker runs on Windows XP. For more information, visit www.infoprintsolutionscompany.com.
