LANSA Integrates with Oracle for Supply Chain Interoperability

Supply-chain managers live in a snake pit. They try to synchronize data so trading partners have current information in their systems, but they forever wrestling with data quality and data classification issues that result in errors, inefficiencies, and sometimes regulatory compliance issues. Those working in this environment are familiar with the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) and its standards that make data synchronization a reality. That makes GDSN certification a big deal, especially in companies that have multi-platform systems based around Oracle software or the IBM AS/400. Last week, LANSA introduced a version of its Data Sync Direct software that’s integrated with Oracle Product Information Management on the supply-side. It’s made specifically for companies in the retail trade. This GDSN-based item data synchronization software serves multiple data pools, including the most heavily utilized data pools and destinations, such as 1SYNC (used around the world) and CABASnet (used primarily in Latin America). But Data Sync Direct can communicate with any GDSN certified data pool, such as SA2 Worldsync, Parangon, AECOC, Sinfos, and Syncfonia to provide open messaging. Manufacturers that use Oracle Product Hub as their product mastering system sometimes need to be integrated to disparate internal environments such as ERP, CRM, or PLM–any of which could be run on AS/400s or other non-Oracle platforms. LANSA’s recent integration efforts allow an accurate “single source of truth” for all shared product data. The integration between Oracle Product Hub and LANSA Data Sync Direct gives suppliers access to item information already stored in Oracle Product Hub and securely sends it to data pools to comply with retailer requests for exchanging item information via the GDSN. “Although Oracle already provides a GDSN solution for retailers, the integration between Oracle Product Information Management and LANSA Data Sync Direct creates a solution for suppliers and manufacturers to synchronize item and price data,” says Hardeep Gulati, Oracle’s vice president of PLM and PIM product strategy, in a press release. “As a result, our joint customers will now be able to get the robust scalable product mastering solution integrated with a leading data sync solution to meet retailer mandates.” 1SYNC director of business development Ruben Castano applauded LANSA and Oracle for taking “a leadership role in helping organizations gain the benefits of data synchronization.” In a statement included in the announcement, Castano said, “1SYNC has had a longstanding relationship with both companies, and many of the trading partners within the 1SYNC community are using LANSA Data Sync Direct today. We foresee the combined offering of these respected organizations as having a positive influence on the continued adoption of GDSN.” GDSN certification provides assurances that trading partners always have the latest information in their systems and any changes made to one company’s database are automatically and immediately provided to all of the other companies who do business with them.
