Agilysys Signs New Vegas Casino to IBM i Software Deal

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, a new casino resort that opens December 15, will use a suite of IBM i-based applications from Agilysys to run the property, the software maker announced last week. Among the packages selected by the new 2,995-room property are the Lodging Management System (LMS) and the Stratton Warren System (SWS). Agilysys has been working hard lately to develop property management systems (PMSs) that run on platforms other than the Power Systems server from IBM. The new Windows-based Guest 360 PMS system, which is based on functionality found in LMS and SWS, and was developed using tools from LANSA, became generally available in June after years of development. However, the reputation of Agilysys’ IBM i-based software packages–including LMS, which handles everything from reservations and credit card processing to accounting and housekeeping, and SWS, which provides inventory and procurement functionality–as dependable and scalable makes them safe bets for large properties that don’t want to try something new as much as get something that is proven to work. So much was said by Arthur Keith, the general manager of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. “A property of our size and scope requires powerful and reliable technology, and the Agilysys solutions have successful track records at many of the world’s major casino-hotels,” Keith says in a press release. In addition to LMS and SWS, The Cosmopolitan will use other Agilysys products, including the InfoGenesis point of sale (POS) package, the Visual One Condo Accounting System, and the DataMagine document management system. The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is located on the strip between the new CityCenter development and the Bellagio. The property includes a 100,000-square-foot casino, 150,000 square feet of convention space, seven restaurants, three pools, and a nightclub. Earlier this year, Agilysys announced its solutions would be used at several of the new casino-resorts included in the CityCenter project, including the ARIA Resort & Casino, Vdara Hotel & Spa, and the Crystals retail district.
