Velocity Ramps Up DR Services for Lawson, JDE, and Kronos Customers

Velocity Technology Solutions rolled out new disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity options earlier this month geared toward getting customers’ critical ERP systems back up and running after a disaster even quicker than it could before. The remodeled DR services plan is based largely on Velocity’s recent acquisition of WTS, and is aimed specifically at customers of Oracle-JD Edwards, Infor-Lawson, and Kronos. Velocity is a growing managed services provider (MSP) that has been expanding lately into cloud computing and hosted DR services. In September, the New York City-based company, which has more than 20 years of experience working with the Lawson M3 and S3 ERP suites, acquired Seattle, Washington-based WTS, which had years of experience hosting and providing DR services for JD Edwards World and EntepriseOne ERP environments. WTS has been a part of Velocity for just a couple of months, but the companies have already managed to merge their respective business plans, and to re-emerge with a new DR and business continuity services plan based heavily on the WTS way of doing things. As part of its new application layer recovery service, customers can move beyond simple tape backups and temporary “cold-site” servers with which customers can restore their own environments. Instead, they get a fully managed DR or HA service in which Velocity technicians take responsibility for bringing an ERP environment back up, company officials say. Velocity is guaranteeing full application and data restorations for customers running Lawson, JD Edwards, and Kronos applications. Thanks to new data replication and data vaulting solutions in place, Velocity can guarantee that a customer will be able to recover its data within a minute of going offline. A variety of recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs) are available to meet customer needs, the company says. Tom Bruno, president and CEO of Velocity, says the new DR and business continuity plans will provide an incentive for customers to adopt Velocity’s cloud hosting services. “In addition to convenience and productivity benefits, ERP in the cloud provides even better application and data restoration than other subscription disaster recovery/business continuity options,” he says in a press release. “With the support of Velocity’s DR services, executives can focus on customers and a quick resolution, should disaster strike.” RELATED STORIES Velocity Buys JD Edwards App Hoster WTS JDE Alliance Formed by Six Independent Vendors WTS Expands Into Managed DR for i OS Apps NaviSite to Resell EnterpriseOne and World ERP Suites
