Lawson S3 Now an Infor10 Product

Lawson Software‘s S3 line of ERP software is now officially an Infor10 product, the company announced last week. The announcement is important because it gives S3 customers access to a range of add-on products from Infor, including the Microsoft Office-based Workspace interface, new mobile apps, and other Infor enterprise apps. Infor rolled out its new Infor10 brand late this summer as part of a company-wide overhaul in how it positions and markets its software. The moniker is significant because it indicates which of Infor’s products will receive the best treatment and be the strategic Infor products going forward. Infor has acquired several dozen application packages over the last decade, and not all of them will be branded “Infor10” products. While the applications that aren’t dubbed Infor10 won’t be sunsetted, they also won’t get the latest and greatest enhancements, such as integration with the ION middleware, integration with the Workspace interface, and Web service enablement, among other features. Lawson’s S3 (stands for staff, source, and serve) line of ERP software is now officially called Lawson S3 10. Organizations that run this package now have several new options available to them, including use of the new Workspace interface that Infor unveiled earlier this year. Workspace is based on Microsoft SharePoint, and delivers a consistent UI across all supported Infor applications. It presents options to users depending on their roles, includes workflow-enabled interfaces, and supports “in context” reporting and real-time collaboration. As an Infor10 application, Lawson S3 10 also provides new mobile applications, including Infor’s Mobile Inbasket, Mobile Requisitions, and Mobile Employee. On the enterprise software front, the integration work behind the Infor10 designation of S3 gives S3 customers access to a broader range of Infor10 applications, including Infor10 FMS SunSystems, Infor10 Expense Management, Infor10 Corporate Performance Management, Infor10 Enterprise Asset Management, and Human Capital Management. The plan communicated by Lawson also involves tweaking the industry-specific versions of Lawson apps. For example, the company’s healthcare solution will see enhancements in areas like analytics, integration, and EAM. The company’s public sector solution will get hooks into Infor10 EAM Enterprise. “This product release validates the strategy behind the affiliation of Lawson and Infor,” stated Lawson director of financial systems product management Darci Snyder, who added that the work shows that Infor and Lawson are “reimagining how enterprise software is managed and how enterprise software can transform business and operations.” RELATED STORIES Infor Hits the Road with New ‘Infor10’ Brand Infor Shares Development Plans for Lawson M3 Infor Debuts Standardized GUI Based on MS SharePoint
