A recent report from Goldman Sachs found that up to 300 million jobs globally could be lost to automation in the coming years. According to the study, administrative roles, such as office support, customer service, and HR will all see a decline in roles due to generative AI. But that’s not all, tasks performed by programmers and software developers are also at risk, along with IT support technicians. Gulp. The news isn’t all bad, but it is going to require some new skills for the current workforce. Get the latest news and predictions for AI in our Top Stories below. …

Tennis fans look forward to the U.S. Open. Technology fans do, too, but for different reasons. “Fans accessing the U.S. Open digital experiences this year will be able to experience every singles match, across all 17 courts, with detailed audio narration and captions accompanying each video – thanks to the power of IBM’s watsonx generative AI, specifically trained on the language of tennis,” said Jonathan Adashek, senior vice president of communications and marketing at IBM. Not sure how John McEnroe and his fellow commentators feel about being replaced by watsonx, but read our Top Story to see what all fans …

To Kill SEU Or Not Kill SEU – That Is The Question
July 12, 2023 Alex Woodie
It was a simple question posed by Liam Allan on Ryver: Should IBM stop shipping SEU? The dozens of answers it generated exposed a stark divide when it comes to the use of legacy technology in the IBM i ecosystem and to what extent it’s okay for IBM to force its customers to adopt new technology.
There is no denying that IBM’s Source Entry Utility (SEU) is still in widespread use in the IBM i world. Statistics are tough to come by, but evidence suggests a majority of IBM i developers still use the greenscreen development tool for at least …

IBM is solidly behind this strategy with their new Merlin product and most of the change management vendors have some kind of Git integration.
By adopting Git for version control, IBM i applications can be managed with the same tools that are being used for development …

March Madness is taking on a different meaning this year. Yes, it’s still the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament that fans look forward to every year, but March 2023 has also been a little crazy. Parts of Northern and Southern California have been covered in snow, burying roads and houses, disrupting power, and snapping branches off trees in areas that aren’t prepared for more than an occasional light dusting snow. The Federal government is attempting to stave off panic in the banking industry following the collapse of two banks. And let’s just not even think about world politics right …
