It’s a little more quiet in this issue of the IBM i PTF Guide than it was last time, which is a good thing and which ran on Monday. We will start off with two more security vulnerabilities, one with Rational Developer for i and the other for the WebSphere Application Server Liberty edition.

First, we have Security Bulletin: IBM Rational Developer for i is vulnerable to attacker obtaining sensitive information due to Java string processing in IBM Toolbox for Java (CVE-2022-43928), which you can find out more about here. Here are the affected releases:

The IBM i 7.4 Technology Refresh 8 marker PTF is out, and we see it in HTTP Server Group 26. Nothing special so far, just the indication that it is out, but nothing on 7.3 or 7.5 groups, yet – only 7.4. Thank you, Jozef in New Zealand, for catching that, and sharing it! The Four Hundred collective thinks the IBM i TRs might be coming on April 11, but that has not been confirmed by Big Blue as yet.

IBM Looking To Open Up Debugging On IBM i

Things are moving quickly now in the IBM i development world, particularly when it comes to lightweight, Web-based IDEs, such as IBM’s new Merlin. However, the need to debug programs and the lack of a debugger for these IDEs is causing a bit of a roadblock to developer productivity with these newer IDEs. Taking A Camel-First Approach to Integration

Unicorns and Chupacabras may not exist on this planet, but camels certainly do. And according to midrange open source guru Jesse Gorzinski, IBM i shops would do well to take a camel-first approach to integration challenges.
