Good-Bye BOSaNOVA, Hello 10ZiG Technology

Climbing the world’s tallest mountain is first a quest and then an achievement. The first to reach the summit of Mt. Everest were a pair of explorers in 1953. One name you are likely to recognize is Edmund Hillary. The second name is the lesser known Tenzig Norgay. Knowledgeable sources say Norgay, a Tibetan Sherpa who had been near the summit on several previous climbs, was chiefly responsible for the amazing accomplishment. Don’t thank me for this short trip into mountain climbing history. Thank Martin Pladgeman, who just renamed his company 10ZiG Technology. You are probably familiar with this company by its previous name, BOSaNOVA. We all have our mountains to climb and Pladgeman’s mountain (at least professionally) has been to design, develop, and market software that handles tasks such as remote management and performance optimization packaged to maximize the functionality of thin clients and network appliances. The Phoenix, Arizona-based company, which also has European headquarters in Leicester, in the United Kingdom, is best known in the IBM i community for its thin clients, security encryption products, and AS/400, iSeries, and System i network appliances. It moves its products through a worldwide network of IBM and Citrix Systems business partners. Pladgeman says 10ZiG will continue to offer the products that customers have been accustomed to with BOSaNOVA, and that no change in ownership, management, or staff has occurred. “We’re doing everything possible to make sure the name change is seamless to the end user. They will continue to get the same quality products and top notch support that they have come to expect from us,” Pladgeman says. “As we expand in the server-based computing, desktop virtualization, and security markets, we wanted to create a fresh brand identity reflective of our company’s core strategy,” says Jennifer Phillips, marketing director at 10ZiG Technology. “Our name now focuses on what we stand for–going above and beyond for our customers. The name 10ZiG comes from Tenzig (also translated Tenzing) Norgay who was the knowledgeable guide who directed Edmund Hillary on the voyage to become the first two people to climb Mt. Everest. We like to think of ourselves as guides within our own market who do everything we can to educate customers. We focus on what we do best, offering quality solutions, personalized attention, and great customer support.” The company introduced its virtualized thin clients in 2008 by preloading Citrix Systems’ XenDesktop virtualization software on its Windows (XPe and CE.Net) and Linux thin clients. Its encryption appliance, which debuted in 2007, encrypts tapes and other portable media as backups are being performed.
