Arrow ECS Launches Cloud Services, Expands in Germany

The Enterprise Computing Solutions IT distribution unit of IT and electronics master distributor Arrow Electronics has been building up its professional services portfolio since last fall and has relaunched its services unit in North America as Arrow Fusion, sporting a slew of cloud services for IT shops. Arrow’s resellers are used to peddling boxes and software licenses to make their bread every day, and in a cloudy infrastructure world, where some shops are going to put at least some of their workloads on someone else’s computers, resellers are naturally wondering where their slice of the action is going to come from. That’s what Arrow’s Fusion unit is all about, and Arrow has brought together data center monitoring and management tools, security tools, business continuity and disaster recovery tools, and various providers of software as a service (SaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) clouds to give its partners something to resell. “As the cloud computing market continues to grow, resellers can rely on Arrow ECS to connect them to industry-leading services so they can continue to meet the demands of the market,” explained Joe Burke, vice president of worldwide services for Arrow ECS, who last year was tapped to figure out how to keep Arrow in the cloudy infrastructure game through a services angle. “Arrow Fusion cloud services address many of the data center needs that companies are most concerned about today and are powered by leading technology providers.” You can find out more about Arrow’s Fusion cloud services program here. In a separate announcement, Arrow ECS has expanded its relationship with IBM in Germany and can now sell the entire portfolio of software from Big Blue delivered by its Software Group through its Passport Advantage catalog. This means Arrow ECS can give the full range of products and tech support to its downstream resellers, and everybody along the chain presumably gets to make a little money pushing and supporting IBM products.
